StashFest
There are only 18 quilt museums in the United States and we are fortunate to be just a few hours away from one of them, the La Conner Quilt and Textile Museum. Like all museums, the museum supporters are always looking for funds to bring an ever increasing variety of exhibits and displays to the Museum. So....welcome to StashFest, a fundraising event for the La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum, which will feature a specialty Fabric Sale, a Book Sale, a mini Flea Market, StashFest Experiences, and non-stop door prizes March 31st and April 1st, 2012. This event is all about artisan fabrics - beautiful, hand dyed or specialty textiles and threads! I personally would be willing to make the trip just to get some of Ellen Dooley's beads! The line-up of artisanal fabric presenters, chosen by invitation, includes:
Elin Noble, world-renowned dyer from Massachusetts, with her clamp-dyed cottons and colorful threads
Lorraine Torrence, a favorite local quilting leader, with her international collection of fabrics, patterns and clothes
Dean and Linda Moran, master dyers from Arizona, with a phenomenal collection of marbled fabrics
Leah Weinstein, from British Columbia, with organic and naturally dyed cottons from TenFold Organic
Patricia Belyea, an artisan quilter from Seattle, with her extensive collection of vintage Japanese yukata cottons
Ellen Dooley, a bead artist from the Pilchuck area, with her lampworked glass beads for embellishing
Margot Myers, a batik artist from Bellingham, with cotton yardage printed with her own copper stamps
Beverly Hunnicutt, a Japanophile and tailor from Seattle, with a huge selection of vintage kimono silks
Mayo Earnest, a quilter from Anacortes with lively hand-loomed Guatemalan cottons she imported
