2011 Shop Hop Block
The Western Washington Shop Hop is all of a sudden just around the corner - and among other things that means that the shop owners all need to get their blocks to In the Beginning Fabrics so that they can begin assembling this years quilt. As much as I sigh about needing to think of a pattern or design for the block each year, I really do find it fun and wouldn't let anyone else get their little hands on the design process. It is always fun to see how the quilt looks when all of the blocks come together.I was in Seattle for a couple of other errands, so dropped off my block in person, so got a chance to see the blocks that had already arrived. They were great, and as you might expect given the border fabric, it looks like this years quilt will have lots of blocks designed around a sewing and quilting theme. Our block this year is a variation of the traditional "Spool and Bobbins" block. Here it is, hanging in the wall in my office -
And look.....we have a pattern from a new redwork pattern designer in the shop. She is a local designer, aren't we lucky. This is the Queen of Awesome Pattern.
Some of us have also had a sneak peak at her next pattern which is a 12 days of Christmas pattern.....so cute! She promises that the pattern and the sample quilt will be ready in time for the Shop Hop - we will be offering it as a block of the month.
