Black and White

When my children were young and their sense of funny evolved beyond slapstick, they began to appreciate more "sophisticated" forms of humor. One of my favorite memories of their childhood times is the two of them rolling on the floor in helpless laughter at their own jokes. First came knock-knock jokes, then why did the whatever cross the road jokes, and then came whole series of black and white jokes. You know the kind, what is black and white and red allover ? the newspaper or a sunburned zebra  - what is black and white and has wheels? ......a panda on roller skates, what is black and white and black and white? a zebra caught in a revolving door....

I can't help but think of those jokes each time we get a new shipment of black and white fabrics in the shop.  And right now, most of the fabric companies have great black and white collections....so our black and white fabric collection just sings with texture and pattern.

Our newest sample in the shop is a wonderful twist on the black and white theme. The quilt was made by Vicki who works at the shop and is from a Karla Alexander pattern.  The stack and shuffle construction method has a wonderful twist with the curved piecing. One of the best things about the quilt according to Vicki is that is was created almost entirely from her stash!
